Majestic Events - Indianapolis Bridal and Event Flowers

Company BackgroundJennifer Montoya

Jennifer Montoya

The primary designer for the company is Jennifer Montoya. Jennifer’s inspiration has come from a creative driven family upbringing in California. Her grandmother, Majesty (for whom the company was named after) and her mother, Sydney owned a costume shop. Sewing, oil painting and tending to her large garden were everyday activities for her mother.

Jennifer’s father, Thomas was also very supportive of the arts. He was the facilities director of the local theatre, while working as a printer full-time. Her father was also involved with the costume business, community activities, and the American Legion. Thomas has been honored across the globe for his deeds. He always encouraged Jennifer and her sisters to be creative and give with their hearts. Serving others was his philosophy.

Jennifer’s floral career began in high school at a traditional upscale flower shop providing flowers for the mayor and large social events in the area. While in college, working at the shop, she majored in the technical side of theatre arts and set design.

At age 22, Jennifer moved to Hawaii and worked for Kraft Foods in sales and marketing. Missing the creativity of flowers, Jennifer freelanced in the floral industry working for a local orchid grower and flower shop. This experience has contributed to Jennifer’s knowledge of tropical flowers.

Jennifer moved to Indianapolis and worked at the Indianapolis Fruit Company. Jennifer was the Manager of the Floral Department. Her responsibilities included weddings and special events, as well as providing floral and décor for Indianapolis Fruit Company’s customers consisting of supermarkets, food service establishments, hotels, and restaurants. The focus of her job was sales, marketing, design of the products, training and education at the store level to the designers with proper handling, services and fruit basket production line.

Jennifer recognized a significant market for the floral designs she created. The company got started and developed a great reputation of providing great floral for grand events and weddings for a fair price. Some of the examples of events the floral department accomplished were providing flowers for such accounts as Deer Creek Music Center, Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett’s wedding, The Beach Boys, Billy Graham and others.

Restructuring at Indianapolis Fruit Company resulted in dropping the wedding business. Although, Jennifer continued to receive requests to do weddings. In 1997, the opportunity to do a wedding in Lafayette with a substantial budget and three months time frame sparked the beginning of Majestic Events. Jennifer began her business by focusing on special events and weddings.

The company started with Jennifer and a few friends, who also worked at the Indianapolis Fruit Company. Presently the company has expanded to a support team of approximately fifteen people working on a part-time basis assisting with the large events or shorter delivery times. The skills of employees range from management backgrounds, a seamstress, CDL drivers, interior designers, floral designers and of course employees with strong customer service backgrounds.

The Majestic Event’s focus is always the bride and the weddings. Keeping the company small allows for hands on management and personal attention to the needs of the bride and groom. Jennifer’s vision and creativity enables her to design unique “props” and her experienced staff can efficiently deliver weddings. The scope of events range from small intimate parties to groups of 2,000 using the company’s unique “props” like, fabric, arches, arbors, an antique silver collection, china, glass and centerpieces.
